Download and Installation

1. Download Maintenance Mode Plugin

for WordPress 2.0.9 and later (incl. WP 2.3)

You also can download an obsolete version which will work with WP 1.5.2 and WP 2.0 thru 2.0.8: Maintenance Mode 2.3

2. Extract and upload the “maintenance-mode” folder to your “/wp-content/plugins/” directory.

3. Activate plugin at your “Plugins” page and go to “Settings” to set Maintenance Mode options

Usage and Settings

You can change the mode – Activate or Deactivated Site Maintenance Mode Option

Message to displayed when the maintenance mode is activated and also how long is your maintenance settings

You can enter paths that shall be excluded and still be accessible. Example: If you want to exclude http://site.com/about/, then enter /about/

When you activate the maintenance mode, it adds a splash page to your blog that lets visitors know your blog is down for maintenance. Logged in administrators get full access to the blog including the front-end.

This plugin adds the capability “access_on_maintenance” to the role “Administrator”. If you now want to achieve, that for example users with the role “Editor” do also get full access to the blog when being logged in, use the plugin Role Manager and grant the capability “Access On Maintenance” for the role “Editor” or for any other role of your choice. the Maintenance Mode Plugin can be very useful when you want to test your new blog template or install any plugins that you think might affect your blog layout. Also when you’re building a new wordpress blog, this can prevent visitors from viewing your incomplete blog.

Lucky friendster unlock video embed very soon after upgrade from Movable Type to WordPress, a blog system that don’t allowed video embed should call a “Blog” , don’t you agree? Hopefully it will allowed other services in soon future!

Although friendster increase up to 70 WP themes selection now (previous only 21 themes) but i still think that not enough for satisfying 80 millions users!

Friendster blog should also consider auto include user Photo Albums that uploaded in their profile into user  blog’s “Media Library”, whereby easier for user to write blog post and easy pull / embed photos from their profile album.
