How To Install Blogger Template Instructions:

Auto website redirecting methods and examples

Automatically redirect your blog or website to a new / different location in 5 minutes

I had to move my entire old blog – Trio Concept to a new location @ blog.jerryong.com (ie. move it to a different location). So how do I redirect people from my old site automatically to my new website ?

(Note: if your server supports either Frontpage-extensions or a .htaccess file, then consider using these options, most webserver blogserver supported)

see example @ http://trioconcept.blogspot.com , it auto redirect back here in 8 seconds.

Copy and Paste the following JavaScript to you blog template or html:

Replace new location address that you wish to redirect @ http://www.newlocation.com
If set the value @ 1, this little script will wait 1 millisecond and then jumps to http://www.newlocation.com.

The delay time (indicated in bold) can be altered to for example 1000 milliseconds (1 second).

Important : Just copying this code will not do the job ! We need to trigger this procedure. This is done by adding "autochange()" to the OnLoad-event of your HTML file.

Add this event to the tag as shown below:

In this example I set the OnLoad-event to execute the script we just have seen.
A full page HTML file would be similar to this one:

Welcome to my website,… unfortunally we moved it to WWW.NEWLOCATION.COM.

Your will be auto redirecting in 1 second.

If it doesn’t then please click here to visit my new blog.

This page will display a warning that the website moved and that the browser will redirecting automatically in 1 second.

Just for those browsers that do not support JavaScript (most browser support), we add an additional link including the link to the new site so they can click there.

Note: naturally, this HTML file should be placed on the OLD blog or website template

How to Converting / Export blog post from Blogger to Movable Type

As i’m upgrading my blog from Blogger to MovableType, i found its really a hassle to move all my previous blog – Trio Concept post from Blogspot to my own domain blog.jerryong.com blogging system MovableType (MT) , thanks for the "Sick Holiday", allowed me to spend sometimes at home blogging & setup this new "Jerry Ong Blog" in few days.

I aware about other blogger user like Jasiminne*the peguin also setup her own domain & upgrade to MT user but facing lots problem like me while learning new MovableType jargon!

Well, let me share few tips & trick here like how to import/export from blogger to MovableType, How to auto redirect your old blog/website address to new address without your user google(search) your new blog address , here you go…………….

How to Backup / Export Blogger

Blogger does not have an export or download function. However, you can use the following instructions to create a single file with all your posts which you may publish and then copy to your own computer for use as desired.

Important Note: If you intend to continue using your blogger blog, please save a copy of your existing template in a file on your computer as you will need to have it at hand after this process is completed.

Log into your Blogger account, then switch into template-editing mode.
Make/Backup a copy of your current template; you will be replacing your Blogger template with the single page template in Step 3, but you probably don’t want to lose your original template.
Replace your Blogger template with the following (note: you must remove the indentation from the following lines when pasting into your Blogger template):

AUTHOR: <$BlogItemAuthor$>
DATE: <$BlogItemDateTime$>

BODY:
<$BlogItemBody$>

Optional: If you are using Blogger commenting system, you can choose to export comments along with the posts. If you want to do this, add the following code to your template, just above the tag:

COMMENT-AUTHOR:<$BlogCommentAuthor$>
COMMENT-DATE:<$BlogCommentDateTime$>
COMMENT-BODY:<$BlogCommentBody$>

In Settings, choose Publishing tab change your Blog Filename to a different filename; this will prevent you from overwriting your main index file. Make a note of your current Blog Filename so you can restore the setting after finishing. [Note: This only applies to users publishing via FTP. Free BlogSpot users will need to overwrite their existing blog page, but it will be replaced as soon as the blog is republished with the original template.]
In Settings, choose Formatting tab, set your blog to display all of your posts on the main index page. There is no explicit setting for this; instead, you should change the number of days displayed on your front page higher than the number of days that you have been blogging. (e.g. 999 Days)
In Settings, choose Formatting tab set Date/Time Format to the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS AM|PM. (Note: the format will not look like this in the menu; instead it will be the current time, formatted.) Make a note of your current setting so you can restore it after finishing.
Also in Settings, choose Formatting tab set Convert Line Breaks to No.
In Settings, choose Archiving tab, set Archive Frequency to No Archive. This will prevent your archives from being overwritten with the new template.
Republish your blog; you will end up with a single file with all of your posts, formatted using the above template, at the location specified in your Settings. Open this file in your web browser and save the file to your local hard drive.
Restore the previous settings (Blog filename, archive frequency, timestamp, etc.) in your blog and replace the temporary template with your saved copy. Publish the blog and view the page to check that everything is correct.
