From within Gmail, you can have an actual conversation with someone (seriously, out loud), or even chat face to face over video.

How to get started with Gmail Voice and Video Chat

1 ) Download the Gmail voice and video chat plug-in, quit all open browser windows, and install the plug-in.
2) Restart your browser and Sign in to Gmail.
3 ) In the Chat section of your Gmail, select the contact you want to call. If they have a camera icon next to their name, you can make a voice or video call to them; just click Video & more.

If your friend doesn’t have a camera next to their name in your chat list, you can invite them to download the Gmail voice and video chat plug-in from the Video & more menu in a chat window. Even if your friend doesn’t have a video camera, you can still make a voice call or a 1-way video call. An Video enable icon will show in your gmail chat list as the image below.

Twitter Tools contains a hook that can be used to pass along your tweet data to another service (for example, some folks have wanted to be able to update their Facebook status). To use this hook, create a plugin and add an action to:

aktt_add_tweet

Your plugin function will receive an aktt_tweet object as the first parameter.

Example psuedo-code:

function my_status_update($tweet) { // do something here }

add_action(‘aktt_add_tweet’, ‘my_status_update’)

I’m using this plugin on my blog to auto archive my daily twitter status update, why? Simply because of easier for my readers to search and find all message i posted online. Also when you’re not able to update your blog for any reason, it will still create new content for you digest from your twitter message and post on blog!

The Firefox add-on China Channel offers internet users outside of China the ability to surf the web as if they were inside mainland China. Take an unforgetable virtual trip to China and experience the technical expertise of the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (supported by western companies).

China Channel was developed by Aram Bartholl, Evan Roth and Tobias Leingruber. consulted by LM4K and Jamie Wilkinson.

The add-on is based on Jeremy Gillick’s Switch Proxy add-on, for which we are very thanksful (and if you are looking for a more functional proxy tool his project is what you’re looking for).

Our intention with the China Channel add-on was simply to help lower the technical barrier to surfing the Chinese internet. There are several projects done previously that have done a great deal in relation to internet filtering or the Chinese Firewall issue e.g.: The Great Firewall of China, Insert Coin (Secret university proxy server), k0a1a.net Redbox (Stand-alone filter-bomb).

Facebook Server Software – Scribe Technology Now Open Source

Facebook had annouced about their Scribe Technology now ready for Open Source, it was built because of they constantly facing scaling challenge of the platform enormous growth. Whereby facebook was collecting a few billion messages a day for everything from access logs to performance statistics to actions that went to News Feed. The Scribe system facebook built turned out to be useful for handling over 100 use cases and tens of billions of messages a day. Scribe has also been battle tested by just about anything that can go wrong, according to facebook recent note.

Scribe server is now available as a project on SourceForge, developers can track updates, request features, join the mailing list and submit bug reports.

Fennec – Mozilla For Mobile Launched !

Mozilla has officially launched “Fennec”, the Mobile version of Mozilla Browser, the first release is for OS2008 (“Maemo”) Platform which is there in Nokia N810 Internet tablet.

Fennec releases are provided as .deb packages and can be installed directly to your N810 from the Application Manager. But first, you’ll need to configure your Application Manager to look in the Mozilla repository. That’s easy to do and once you do it, you won’t need to worry about it again. Here is the quick information for setting up the Application Manager:

Hurray! long wait Mozilla for Mobile Browser had finally launch but still no right version for my HTC mobile but i think Fennec will support more mobile device and platform in near future. Also wish there is plugin available to sync my pc based firefox with mobile based fennec.

How To Recover Deleted Photos From Your Digital Camera or Memory Card

Had you experienced accidentally deleted your beloved photo and amazing pictures you took when you traveled with your digital camera?

Step One – Dowloand and Install

Step Two – Selecting Memory Card as Windows Drive

This photo recovery software was definitely very useful but it can also be misused by others to recover your deleted images, make sure you DO NOT Share your Digital Camera or Memory stick with others whereby you will take the risk of unwanted photos to be rediscovered and spread around, unless you really don’t mind to be the next “Edison Chen and Cecilia Cheung“.
