This tutorial is to share with you about What is Moblog (Mobile Blogging) and How to setup your Free Mobile Blog with Flickr in 5 minutes. I have created by own Moblog 2 years ago wback, which you can find it at http://moblog.jerryong.com

1st, What is Moblog ?
Moblog is a blend of the words "mobile" and "weblog". A mobile weblog, or Moblog, consists of content posted to the Internet from a mobile or portable device, such as a cellular phone or PDA. Moblogs generally involve technology (for e.g. wireless LAN)which allows publishing from a mobile device, MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) or Email from your mobile phone.

There is plenty method to start your own moblog, the easiest and fastest way to setup a moblog is using third party engine like Flickr to post your Photo & Message to your existing blog!

2nd, How to setup your Free Mobile Blog with Flickr in 5 minutes?

Requirement :
# Obviously you need a mobile phone, which come with camera and able to send MMS or email (either push mail, GPRS, 3G & etc)

# You need a Blog of course and the following is the supported list :
Movable Type, Blogger, Type Pad, Word Press, Live Journal, VOX, Manila, or any ATOM enabled, Blogger API enabled, Meta Weblog API enabled blog

# You need to register a Free Flickr account at
www.Flickr.com

Step One
Login to your Flickr account and your blog

Step Two
Go to http://www.flickr.com/blogs.gne , follow the instruction to add your blog platform, Grant Access to flickr send post to your blogging platform. and you might need to find your xmlrpc location and password for platform like Movable Type and Word Press

Step Three
Go to Flickr Upload by email page at http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/ , custom a secret flickr email address which you can later send your moblog post to blog by using your MMS or Mobile Email.

Example : samplesecretemail@photos.flickr.com

IMPORTANT : if you need to send to blog, you need to add "2blog" after the name like the following sample :

samplesecretemail2blog@photos.flickr.com

Follow the rest of the simple step to configure your layout as required by Flickr and now you can send a test post from Flickr to see whether the layout ok! Default layout size is 100 X 75, 240 X 180, 500 X 375.
